The AI Second Brain Blueprint
Two paths: Obsidian plus Claude Code on your laptop for $20/month, or build it for a client and charge $5,000. Both paths fully documented.
Two paths to the same destination. Path A: build an AI-powered second brain for yourself using Obsidian and Claude Code for $20/month, the cost of Claude Pro. Path B: build the same system for a client as a bespoke knowledge management system and charge $3,000 to $5,000. Both paths are fully documented.
How to do it
- 1Path A setup: install Obsidian (free), configure the Claude Code MCP to read your vault directory, define a daily capture and summary prompt
- 2Morning brief: Claude reads your notes from the last 7 days and surfaces what is relevant to your priorities for today. Takes 2 minutes to generate
- 3Idea capture flow: voice note on your phone leads to auto-transcription, then Claude summary, then saved as a structured Obsidian note, fully automated via n8n or Make
- 4Path B client setup: audit their existing knowledge management state. Where does institutional knowledge live? Where does it get lost? What needs to be searchable?
- 5Build the same Obsidian and Claude system with their content, their taxonomy, and their specific workflows. Add a simple admin layer for non-technical team members
- 6Delivery package: working system, 30-minute onboarding session, 30-day check-in call. Price: $3,000 to $5,000 depending on scope and client size
Why it works
The value of a second brain is compounding. A note from six months ago becomes the input to a decision today. Claude makes that compounding active instead of passive: it surfaces connections and relevant prior context that you would never find manually when you need them.
